Aly's Newsletter: Timely Call For Sources (And An Important Reminder)

Hi, friends!

The (season? series? who knows at this point?) finale of And Just Like That...aired this morning and I have TONS of feelings on it, however I'm not going to share any spoilers since I know many haven't watched yet.

But I will say I've been sending texts and voice notes to my gal Amber Katz (subscribe to her Substack, she's hilarious and a genius) all day long about it, and my comments on various aspects of the finale have veered somewhere between

"What?"

"Why?"

"Huh?"

"Oh, that makes sense."

"hmmm"

"That was an interesting choice..."

And "wait, what?"

Amber felt similarly.

Please catch up and watch so I can post more here and we can all discuss a bit more fully.

Some housekeeping

I hate to feel like I am scolding people, but I need to bring up two issues as a reminder.

If you commit to giving commentary for a story, please follow through. If you can no longer do so after you committed, please let me know. If this happens, and you just completely ghost on me after repeated follow ups, I will not reach out to you again for further stories.

And, regarding updates: I'm happy to help anyone ever if I got information wrong in a story. If the price is wrong, if the link is wrong, if the wrong image or name is used. But if you decide you don't like the phrasing or position it is in the list, that's not a correction. And this is editorial, not advertising, please try to remember that. A LOT of hands are involved in making updates to stories after they are published, and it's a lot better for us if you give us all the information that is necessary BEFORE the story is published. (See also anyone who asks me to squeeze something into a story that has already run. It's over. Move on, please.)

Timely need for expert commentary

 I unfortunately had a handful of nutritionists go MIA for a story I needed expert commentary for, for Clean Plates. I now need asap responses for that story as well as for another one (which obviously I will not be reaching out to the people who flaked on me for...) - if you have someone (preferably non-brand-affiliated) who can chat with me via email, I'd SUPER appreciate it. alywalansky@gmail.com - thanks! 

And in the future - please don't commit to give responses to interview questions if you will not follow through and if you do discover a conflict, be it time or otherwise, please let the journalist involved know so they don't need to scramble at the last minute. It's rude and unprofessional.
