Hi, friends!
First and foremost, a very happy and sincere congratulations to California for defeating the recall! So so relieved and so glad that hot mess is behind you (and all of us).
Onto today’s news…
Fun fact: There’s a whole lot of cooking and prep that comes before a fast day such as Yom Kippur. That’s because we have a pretty big meal before we start the fast. Right now, I have a turkey breast, Grandma’s potato nik (it’s made a much-requested return!), and a challah in the oven.
We’ll be breaking the fast tomorrow night in the time-honored tradition — with lox and bagels. (Thanks so much to my fab PR friend Kim, who works with Goldbelly and sent us this awesome Break the Fast gift package from my favorite NYC bagel shop, Zucker’s, to enjoy tomorrow evening!) If you have any loved ones who you want to send a piece of NYC to, this is such an amazing, thoughtful gift.
To that end, I’ll be honest - I’m not really working on anything non-holiday-wise this afternoon and I don’t work on Yom Kippur, so I’m going to hold off on sharing any story leads until tomorrow evening after sundown. (Why ask my friends to work on my pending stuff when I’m not working on my pending stuff? It’s all things that has some time and can wait!)
That said, here’s some stories that have gone live since yesterday…
