Friday Update - Live From San Fran!
Good morning from San Francisco!
I'm writing this from the airport awaiting my flight home to New York. This first trip “back in the field” (so to speak) served to be an interesting learning experience on several fronts — both in an interesting and educational "learning about wine is so much fun" way and also in a, well, "this is a teaching moment for my next Clubhouse discussion" way.
To that end, I wanted to start this email by taking a moment to thank my new friend Samantha Marshall Carpenter of Feature M PR - right here in front of everyone - who, when she heard that my and Amber's safe secure travel from Sonoma to the SFO airport had seemingly evaporated and our new option was something that did not make us feel safe or secure, volunteered to personally pick us up from our hotel -- at the crack of dawn -- and drive us to an airport that is two hours away. Even though we were not on this trip hosted by her, and even though her clients were in no way involved. She just did as an act of friendship and because she cared and wanted us to be safe and well cared for. Just on a human decency level. (Here's a photo of us at the airport after she dropped us off - we made a friend for life!)
I think the time of the pandemic has taught us, above and beyond all other things, how important it is to simply...learn to prioritize the wellbeing of others. People like Samantha make me want to be a better person, and I'm so grateful that people like her still do exist in the world!
OK, now for what I'm working on right now and this weekend:
1. The Usage: Today EOD is the last call for my charcoal grills roundup. Please email me if you rep a charcoal grill available at a major online retailer.
2. For Eat This, Not That, I'm working this weekend on Everyday Habits That Spoil Your Body, Say Experts, and I'd love experts to weigh in vs. what are these habits, why they spoil your body and how and would love if you can link to any studies/research to back this up. By Monday AM please. alywalansky@gmail.com
Here's some stories that have been published since yesterday.
