Hello From Wine Country - Here's What Aly Is Working On Today
Good morning and happy Tuesday!
I'm writing today from Santa Rosa. Spent all day yesterday in the Livermore area, where I visited a few vineyards and did my part to make sure all the wine in northern California is holding up well during these trying times.
One really fun part of yesterday is Amber Love Bond and I had the opportunity to visit the Mother Vine! There's a really fun story behind this that all wine lovers will appreciate.
The mother vine is the cabernet vine that James Concannon smuggled in from Chateau Margaux in 1893 - that is the foundation of the entire California Cabernet industry!

I will not lie - traveling feels simultaneously foreign and familiar right now, and I'm still very nervous about many things. It's been so long since I've been out and about. This week though, Bryce and I were both listed among Muck Rack's top travel journalists of 2021!
That really helped give my battered confidence some of the boost it needed! That said, I'll absolutely post what works and doesn't work about press trips in the current era when I'm back from my travels - hopefully it'll be helpful in some of your own planning. 1 - For YourTango, I'm working on a story with expert tips on how to buy a watch online without getting scammed. We're thinking from sites like eBay, etc, and not major retailers. I'd love experts to weigh in. Please email me at alywalansky@gmail.com
2 - For Eat This, Not That, I'm working on a story on The #1 Cause of Abdominal Obesity. I realize this sounds similar to the belly fat story I was working on a few days ago, but they are distinct stories! I'd love experts to weigh in though in a similar format, various causes, risks, studies to refer to, what to do about it, etc. And responses by the end of day would be fantastic please. Thanks!
3 - For Merriam Webster's The Usage, I'm all wrapped up on shower heads but still taking pitches re: best charcoal grills available at major online retailers.
