Industry Insights: Here's three different emails you do NOT want to send a journalist after a story is published.
Good morning and happy Saturday!
I’m back from Kansas City (and I had a great time!). I’ll of course chat more about that in a future email, but for now, I wanted to take some time to address something that happens a lot in my inbox — and why it isn’t the best way to go.
Let me start by sharing a few examples of what I mean:
“Hey, Aly. I saw published a National Oyster Day story. Would love you to consider our charbroiled oysters for this story!”
or:
“Hey, Aly! I saw you just published a National Oyster Day story. Would love if you can squeeze us in!”
or:
“Hey, Aly. We pitched you for your National Oyster Day story. We were very disappointed to see we weren’t included. Can you explain what happened?”
OK…these are three different emails (and based on very real emails I get very often…and all three will not serve you.) Let me explain why.
