Industry Insights: It's time to discuss the difference between EOD and COB -- and why that matters.
Good morning!
For today’s newsletter, I wanted to chat a bit about COB and EOD, how it is used in our industry, and why it matters.
This came up a few times this week because I had two separate days I had stories that I had calls for sources for that I also turned around that same day. (This actually happens pretty often in my content.)
I got some great responses pretty quickly. But there were also some people who sent responses as late as a few minutes before midnight, thinking they had gotten just under the wire.
I realize since the pandemic, as many people continue to WFH or have a hybrid work schedule, the windows of what is a traditional work day continue to blur…but EOD or COB both do not mean…before the clock says it’s tomorrow. If it’s minutes to midnight and I’m in bed hopefully sleeping…the day is long over.
So what DO these terms mean…and how do we use them more effectively? This falls under the category of clear and effective communication and it’s so important….
Lets get into that…
