Industry Insights: The Ultimate Guide To Submitting Photos To Media
Happy Friday!
The photo submission is a crucial aspect of many pitches.
Whether I am writing a gift guide or a roundup of cocktails (BOTH on the agenda today and through the weekend), I'm going to need to source a photo. Lots of photos. And keep them organize. And try my best not to go insane while I’m at it.
(A losing proposition of late, to be sure.)
That makes the photo submission aspect of the pitch incredibly important -- and, at times, a deal breaker.
Just about every day, I receive emails asking for feedback about why a client or product was not included in a story.
And while there's a lot of non-photo reasons for this, from missing the deadline to not being the best fit, there are many times that the absence of a usable photo is a big part of why an otherwise-good fit is not included.
To that end, today's email is going to be a revisit of the right and wrong things to do and best practices when submitting photos (if you want your product/pitch to end up included, that is!).
This is something I've covered here before, but I'm going to try to go just a bit deeper today.
