Industry Insights: Weekend poll! Would you be interested in a Festivus style webinar event?
Happy Saturday!
I’m considering doing a bit of a different kind of town hall-style webinar event and I’d love your feedback.
Does everyone remember back in the Seinfeld days, when George would celebrate Festivus…as in the airing of the grievances?
I know that sounds TOTALLY negative, and that’s the opposite of what this Substack is all about. I’m really trying to use this event to create greater positivity. We’re all about building community, and I know it sometimes feels like we’re all out here telling you everything you should be doing differently…so what if we gave you the reins for a bit?
I’m toying with the idea of doing a webinar event where I’m going to let, you, the subscribers, take the lead. You tell me what journalists do that make your job harder and more stressful.
In some cases, maybe we can work together and find out a way to make those specific situations work more seamlessly and do things differently — or better understand what makes them be the way they are…
Would that be something that this community would be interested in? Reminder: This is NOT encouraging negativity or bad blood (lord knows enough of that exists elsewhere!), but rather, finding more constructive ways to be a community that communicates better and more effectively.
Remember, I’m here as a service to you. So, if there’s ever anything I can do to add value to this community for you, please let me know!

I attended a program this week at the Boston Globe where business writers talked about their interests. Attendees shared what they were working on and we brainstormed how all could work together.
