Good morning!
I'm trying to gather my resolve right now to start compiling all my 1099s for taxes...and let me tell you, there's not enough caffeine in the world to make that motivation happen.
But...it needs to get done, right?
Anyway…
It is Super Bowl weekend, and it's also Valentine's this week (my freshly-painted red nails are in honor of both!) - that makes it a complicated time planning wise - but also an interesting time to examine from a content perspective.
Like many people, I am far more interested in the commercials during the Super Bowl than the Super Bowl itself. (Though I do see my allegiance leaning toward KC if anyone is interested!), but I have some fun plans in store - from thematic mini cupcakes (for fans of both teams, sent by Baked by Melissa!), to a whole game time spread that is being sent over as a special treat from my friends Applebee’s - with everything from spicy wings to soft pretzels and queso to fun cocktails - so it’s going to be a good time for all no matter how the game goes down.
I’ll of course have lots of photos on my Insta later, but what I was considering this morning is that as those who write and send pitches -- so that'd be both the media and PR side of things in different senses -- there's a lot we can learn from the best of the Super Bowl commercials.
Some are clever, some are silly, a lot are kind of cheesy. But all have a narrative and most are trying to sell you something. And that means there's some lessons about writing and pitching we can learn from watching.
