Monday Edition: New assignments this week, creating to-do list subcategories, and how to get a steeply discounted group subscription!

I'm revving up for a short week (I head to Vegas on Thursday morning!), and I have a lot to get done before I go.
I'll obviously be working while I'm there (are we ever...not...working?) - but the greater the head start I get this week at the top, the more fun I can have at the back end.
(That sounded wrong!)
While it's hard to avoid working while traveling (especially when our travel is work-related in the first place!), there's certain tasks on our to-do list that we need to plan ahead. For example, this week I have a recipe development project I'm working on for one of my outlets.
It's kind of exciting because it's a little out of the box for me, content wise. I usually create new recipes for fun, not for work! And I’m most certainly not a chef. But I'm loving the challenge. So, I'll be working on that project over the next few days, as far as creating and testing the recipe, so that by the time I'm on the plane Thursday morning, I'll *hopefully* be at the point that I can just write it up!
I have a lunch and learn consulting session booked later this morning, and I really wanted to get this email out to you before I'm offline for an hour or so for that -- so lets get to it!

For today's Monday productivity tip, I'm going to refer to something I learned when reading a recent interview that Anderson Cooper did with WSJ -- in the interview, Anderson talked about keeping lists of all his action items.
That's nothing new, we talk about that all the time!
BUT his idea, which I immediately implemented and it helped so much, was to create SUBCATEGORIES in his to-do list. So, important items. urgent items. time-sensitive items. Important but not urgent. Not important or urgent, but needs to be done.
It seems so simple and obvious but it's really does help!
Last night I made a chicken curry. The step-by-step recipe video is currently still active on my Instagram stories. (This is an easy and fast one and involves ingredients you probably already have handy!)

New feature! Since people are often asking on status of stories from a while ago, and I only share stories in this newsletter that were published or updated in the current week, I have created a list of my author pages at various publications to which I contribute.
This list will live on my Substack URL and be updated as necessary. That way, you can see what I’m doing at any publication, at any time, from types of stories to general structure of stories to even volume and frequency of my content at that outlet.
This can also help you to target pitching a bit better. That makes your job easier, and mine too!

I’m looking for RDs and nutritionists to comment on: Best frozen foods at Trader Joe's nutritionists love when they don't feel like cooking. The usual format for the stories I do here - I’d love the nutritionist or RD (please be sure to include relevant credentials, and I would prefer sources that are unaffiliated with a brand) to tell me what the food is, why it’s a good choice nutritionally, and why they like it (and also how they enjoy eating it, if they mix it with something else, or something). These can be frozen foods you eat still-frozen (like a fro yo or whatever) as well as the best/healthiest frozen TJ's dinners that you heat up in the microwave or oven. I’m TRYING to wrap this one up before I travel this week, so would love to hear from people who can respond in the next few days.
The Best Labor Day Sales to Shop Now - This is similar to the sales roundups I did for July 4th, Father's Day, and so forth. I'm rounding up the best Labor Day sales this year, focusing on major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Kohl’s, Macy’s etc. When pitching me, please include the details of the sale, if it’s in-store or online, and any cash back offers from RetailMeNot.
Your Guide to Labor Day Store Hours - I'm going to be doing a revamp of this article, about the store hours of major retailers during Labor Day weekend. I want to include the retailers that were in last year’s update (so please email me if you are any of those stores) but will be expanding and adding more in this update. Yes, this is very similar to the hours updates I've done for Memorial Day, July 4th, etc, so you know the drill by now as far as format goes!

Some of these food holidays are not until September so I have a bit of time, but earlier, the better, always. (I tend to get SO many food-holiday deal related pitches when it’s already THAT DAY and the story is already published. Then it’s too late! Get these deals to me early for the best chance of getting them included.)
