Happy Friday!
Fun fact: I'm totally that girl that gets to the airport FOREVER before a flight and even though I have a flight today at 4 pm, somehow my whole day is about...keeping in mind I have a flight today. (And yes, I left my home at shortly after 1 pm for a flight that's at 4 pm, at an airport that's less than an hour away, for a quick regional shuttle flight.)
That's just me. Years ago, my friend friend Amber and I went to Brazil on a press trip. It was a redeye. I called her from the airport bar at 7 pm asking if she wanted to get a pre-glass of wine.
Will I ever stop being like this? Unlikely. I kind of love the relaxed nature of calmly going through security, finding a spot with a power outlet, and sipping my coffee as I do some work emails awaiting my flight.
It seems so preferential to me rather than running through an airport like my arse is on fire. (Also, I'm not much of a runner. The few times I've had to run to make a connection, I felt like I was going to a - die, or b - miss my flight.)
What are your weird travel neuroses? Are you like me? Or do you go to the other extreme? (and really, I do see both points -- but I still agree with mine!)
Here’s some things I’m working on this weekend and into next week:
For Spy, I’m working on all the following:
Best drink markers
Best electric wine openers
Best gifts for avocado lovers — so not just avocados but other things avocado lovers may like. Kitchen tools, avocado pjs, whatever!
Stocking stuffers you can get at Target
The best ugly HANUKKAH sweaters (Yes, I’m doing an ugly Christmas sweater story for RetailMeNot still - these are different stories for different outlets)
To pitch me for any of these - you know the drill! Please start a new email thread, address it to alywalansky@gmail.com and make sure to let me know which guide you are responding to. (Important, I still have all my RetailMeNot and Forbes guides pending so there’s a lot of guides going on at once!)
*There’s a few more SPY assignments coming later today or over this weekend, will update as they arrive!
