Good morning (er, almost afternoon!)
I have a pretty busy day on tap for today, but I took some time this morning to host a virtual consulting session with one of my favorite PR agencies. Consider it along the lines of a super casual media practices 101 Q&A class.
I love doing things like this because while it starts out with me sharing my own sort of intel, the learning always ends up going both ways! If you have any interest in setting something up with your own team, email me any time and we’ll get a date on the books.
Enquiring minds want to know
Last night, I read on Instagram that my favorite local Brooklyn spot for gumbo (seriously, this is the best gumbo outside of NOLA I've ever had) is closing this week...this is my go-to delivery place whenever my soul needs some soothing, so now I can't help but feel a sense of loss about this....so I'm asking (and this isn't for a story, but just for my own education) - does anyone have a NYC spot THEY love for stuff like gumbo and po boys? Tell a betch. (Ideally one that is in Park Slope delivery range!)

Here's what I'm working on:
Be sure to read the below list carefully. Many are stories I posted about yesterday, but some of yesterday's stories are no longer listed and a few new ones have been added since yesterday. This (below) is everything that is still a currently open opportunity as of today.
TODAY.COM
Today, for TODAY.com i'm URGENTLY (as in the next few hours) rounding up NATIONAL BURRITO DAY deals at food and restaurant chains. If you have anything for me, please email me asap at alywalansky@gmail.com
RetailMeNot
For RetailMeNot, I'm updating this story about stores closed on Easter Sunday (+ Easter Store Hours for 2022) -- I realize this reads like the flip side of the Today.com story I was just working on, but there's a few subtle differences. So if you represent any of the stores in it, I would love it if you can contact me to let me know if your hours have changed or not for Easter, or when you will know. While the TODAY story is just restaurants, this is all sorts of stores, from grocery stores to department stores. Please assume that something needs to be a chain to be included, so your one-off location of a sushi shop doesn't really apply.
HerMoney
For HerMoney.com, I'm working on the following:
1 - Mother's Day gifts under $100 that will make her have a better day every day -
2 - Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas to celebrate Earth Day Right
Today.com
I'm looking for restaurant chains nationwide doing special deals/discounts for tax day. If you have any, please email me with what the restaurant is (chains only please), what the freebie/discount/deal is, and how to claim it.
To pitch me for ANY of these stories, please email me at alywalansky@gmail.com (and start a new thread, please!).
Forbes.com
As I mentioned last week, I have a Vegas trip on the books for the end of April. It’s a press trip so my schedule is pretty full but I am building in some free time before the festivities begin. While I’m there, I’m going to be working on sourcing some fun bars/restaurants to include in a roundup. They should either be new, or have a new element (renovation? new celeb chef on board? new menu?) - if you have anything that may fit, please email me! For totally unrelated reasons, I’m also looking for fun salons on or near the strip someone could go for a quick pre-event blowout should they be in town and want (for future coverage elsewhere). Please drop me a line with any leads for either!

This won't help you with Seamless delivering your gumbo, but my former co-worker Ken Wells wrote a tremendous love story about gumbo (with recipes)--you may dig.https://www.amazon.com/Gumbo-Life-Tales-Roux-Bayou/dp/0393254836
